OLEAN — Local churches continued their annual effort to help feed the community on Thanksgiving.
Volunteers from the St. Stephen’s Episcopal and Bethany Lutheran congregations — many of whom have come for years to help out — cooked and packaged hundreds of meals for community members with support from the Greater Olean Association of Churches on Thursday.
Among dessert donors this year were members of the Olean Zonta Club, who as a monthly service project provided “too many” desserts, according to church officials, and were among the drivers making 35 runs to deliver meals. Another 154 meals were set aside to be picked up for takeout service.
